Reserve Pinot Noir
Wine
TarraWarra Estate Reserve Pinot Noir is produced from heritage, low yielding vines grown on north facing slopes. One of the winery's original 1983 plantings, H Block is the backbone of the Reserve blend.
A new I Block was planted in 1989, originally as a clone trial block. The D5V12 clone proved most suited to the site, so the remaining vines were grafted over in 2001. The D5V12 adds another dimension to the Reserve Pinot Noir.
The fruit from each block is kept separate through harvest and vinification. The handpicked grapes are fermented with cultured yeast for five days. Twelve days of skins contact and full malolactic fermentation follows.
Ageing is in 25% new French oak barriques for 10 months. Only then does TarraWarra Estate decide which selections make up the Reserve blend.
Vibrant dark crimson, TarraWarra Estate Reserve Pinot Noir is finely layered with pure dark fruit flavours, fine grainy tannins and great persistence of flavour. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
